The tragedy has been everywhere: on the television, in headlines at the checkout in the supermarket, on the lips of those saddened and disbelieving. And it was on the front page of the Globe and Mail as one mom waited in a salon for a hair appointment with her little girl, who is recently starting to read English when previously she only read in French. It wasn’t a context in which this mother was expecting to have to explain the inexplicable, and do so in child-friendly terms, but she thought fast and did a beautiful job.
