- Woodworking with young children
June 23, 2020
6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Join us for a 2-hour session that will help you explore the great benefits (and some risks) of introducing various woodworking projects to children in your care. We will use a step-by-step approach to help you fit woodworking into your space and your schedule and share some valuable resources available in our community. We will discuss child-friendly tools and materials and the importance of creating a culture of trust and respect in your classroom. You will see a demo of transforming simple sticks into a beautiful tree. This project requires only basic tools and results in a neat addition to your classroom that can be used for decoration and play.
Presenter: Olha Khaperska is a learning environments consultant behind Beautiful Classrooms, a service that helps teaching teams implement positive changes in their classroom design and layout. She has been working as an Early Childhood Educator since 2013 and recently she enjoys delivering workshops on learning environments and curriculum as well as facilitating NS Learning Framework sessions.
Olha has a degree in Management, an ECE diploma, and an Early Childhood Administrator Certificate. She currently works as a Lead ECE in the Pre-Primary program, where she shares her love for making things with an amazing group of 4-year-old children.
