We still have space available in two of our workshops on Saturday December 13! Check out these exciting professional development opportunities, and if you’d like more information please call 902-423-7114 extension 233.
9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
As early childhood educators we know that children learn best through play. However, outside pressures for school readiness and academic skills push in making it more and more challenging to keep play at the forefront of our practice. Understanding the value play has in enhancing children’s development helps us to speak with confidence and conviction when defending children’s right to play. This workshop will provide participants with time to play, learn, reflect and plan to realize the full power of play in their environments.
Presenter: Shari Ridgewell, M Ed., BAA ECE, has worked for over 30 years in the field of early childhood. She enjoys facilitating PD opportunities for child care staff on many different topics that support a play based, child centered approach to learning.
How Does Your Team Work?
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Developing a staff of individuals into an effectively functioning team can be a rewarding experience. In a well-functioning team, members will be motivated and enabled to use their talents to the fullest. Your team is made up of introverts and extroverts, do you know who you are? This workshop will focus on exploring what introverts and extroverts bring to the team, their strengths and challenges. Participants will better understand their own preference and how that impacts a team.
Presenter: Janet Boutilier, M.ED, is a certified facilitator for Personality Dimensions and Instructor at NSCECE. In addition to teaching courses in Research Issues and Interpersonal Communication she offers professional development workshops in team building and working well with families.
