idiot-Rain-ManApril is Autism Awareness Month, and research into the disorder continues.
A small new study
suggests there may be abnormalities in the brain occurring before birth which cause autism, at least in some cases. The sample for this study is small, leading experts to stress that the results are preliminary and further study will be required to determine whether these abnormalities are common in those with autism or not. However, it may be a step towards a better understanding of autism, and the benefits that come with increased knowledge are what this month is all about.
